🌿 Fair Share Folding

Focus: Halves, thirds, and quarters; equal vs. unequal parts

Theme: Fairness, counting, and visual math

Materials:

  • Paper

  • Pencil or marker

  • Optional: ruler

Instructions:

  1. 🔁 Fold the paper into halves and then again into quarters.

  2. 📐 Carefully try to fold a piece of paper to create three equal parts.

  3. 👀 Look at how many pieces and how big they are.

  4. 🗣️ Say “one third,” “one quarter,” etc.

Discussion Questions

  • Why do thirds look different from quarters?

  • Which fold gives more pieces?

  • Are these shares fair?
